License Plate Recognition
SmartVision is an advanced video surveillance system that includes a license plate recognition feature. Using machine vision, the system automatically identifies vehicle license plates in real time, starting from the moment the motion detector is triggered. This allows for efficient tracking of vehicles, recording their license plates, and saving important events. SmartVision offers flexibility in using this feature both with object detection and separately. License plate recognition works on 64-bit computers with sufficient computational power, ensuring accuracy and high performance.
Enabling License Plate Recognition
SmartVision features automatic vehicle license plate detection, which allows the system to recognize and record license plates in the frame. This option is activated if you have already enabled motion detection in the "Motion" tab. In the IP camera settings, go to the "Detection" section and enable license plate recognition.

To enable automatic license plate recognition, select the option "Enable license plate recognition."

How License Plate Recognition Works:
- Motion Detector Trigger – The system analyzes the frame and starts searching for license plates in the image.
- License Plate Recognition – Using machine vision algorithms, the system automatically recognizes and records the license plate, highlighting it in the frame.
- Event Recording – If the license plate is successfully recognized, the corresponding event will be recorded and saved.
- Automatic Detection and Search of License Plates: You can quickly find relevant events in the video archive and track vehicle movements.
- Support for both Object Detection and Standalone Use: License plate recognition can be set up separately from other object detection options, making the system more flexible based on the surveillance needs.
- Enhanced Security and Control: This feature is particularly useful for parking lots, perimeter monitoring, area security, and traffic management.
Recognized License Plates in the Events Tab of SmartVision
In the Events section, all motion detector triggers, as well as object recognition results (such as faces and license plates), and triggers from smoke and fire detectors will be displayed.
When the system successfully recognizes a vehicle’s license plate, the event will be listed, showing the license plate number and the time of the trigger. This helps quickly find and analyze events related to specific vehicles.
Additionally, the Events tab includes a filtering function that allows you to quickly find the required records by time, event type, or vehicle number.

This makes searching and analyzing video recordings simple and convenient. If video transfer to the cloud server is configured for the selected camera, the event form will display the file upload status, allowing you to track the data-saving process and ensure the successful transfer of information.
